It’s Friday, and it’s time for a ‘Flashback Friday’ here on soogreyhounds.com.
In our third edition we go back to a ‘wild’ West Division match-up between the Greyhounds and Windsor Spitfires where the teams combined for 19 goals!
The date was March 17, 2012.
For the Hounds, it was the second last game of the season. And despite the fact they were already eliminated from the post-season it started off a perfect weekend for the club to end the year.
They would miss the playoff race, to Windsor, by just a single point.
In this game specifically, Nick Cousins opened the scoring as the Hounds scored first and never trailed.
They held leads of 3-0, 3-2, 4-2, 6-4, 6-5, 8-5, 8-7, 9-7, and 10-8 before holding on to the wild win.
Cousins (1g, 2a) and fellow forward Brandon Alderson (2g,1a) each finished the night with 3 points, while Carson Dubchak pitched in with a pair of goals.
Jack Campbell played the full contest between the pipes facing 32 shots, while the Hounds posted 47 against the Spitfires Jordan DeKort.
