MISSISSAUGA, ON-

Scoring goals has not been an issue for the Soo Greyhounds this season.
The Hounds headed into Mississauga on Sunday afternoon with the 4th most goals for (120) in the Ontario Hockey League.

And along with scoring first, they flexed their offensive muscles all part of a five goal first period outburst that saw eleven Greyhounds’ with points on the board through twenty minutes.

ALEX JOHNSTON got the scoring going just 3:02 into the game following up on an initial chance by TANNER DICKINSON, and beating Kai Edmonds for the 1-0 lead.

A two-goal cushion came out of the Greyhounds one-and-only powerplay of the first period when JAROMIR PYTLIK redirected home a feed from ROBERT CALISTI to make it 2-0 at 7:18.

Less than a minute later (8:04) JOE CARROLL fired a quick shot that was in & out behind Edmonds and the Hounds led 3-0.
That goal spelt the end of the day for the Steelheads starting netminder who allowed three goals on ten shots in 8:04 of action.

Mississauga would get on the board on their one-and-only powerplay as well.
Just past the midway point of the period, Keean Washkurak put a high wrister through a screen to beat BAILEY BRKIN to cut into the Greyhounds lead.

The visitor’s lead was regained and extended later in the period when RORY KERINS scored a pair of goals just twenty-seven seconds apart.
At 16:24, Kerins was given a perfect feed by ZACK TROTT and skated in left wing alone before blasting a shot past Joe Ranger.
Then at 16:51 Kerins was there to redirect home a feed by BILLY CONSTANTINOU.

Hounds outshot Mississauga 15-11, while eleven different players had points to lead the Hounds 5-1 lead into the dressing room,.

The second period would go scoreless thanks to some timely saves by BAILEY BRKIN and Joe Ranger at the other end of the ice when either was tested.

Penalty kill work for the Greyhounds would remain perfect on the day when back-to-back penalties about twelve minutes into the period led to a forty-seven second 5-on-3 for Mississauga.
Along with the disadvantage, the Hounds lost the services of D DREW WAWROW who was assessed seventeen minutes in penalties after coming to the defence of captain RYAN ‘OROURKE who was on the receiving end of a questionable hit, but was ok.

The Hounds would return to even strength unscathed and would look to do that again when a late penalty saw the Hounds start the third period down 5-on-4 for 1:53 to start.

Five seconds after getting back to full strength (1:58) Aidan Prueter got Mississauga their second goal, while just twenty-two seconds later (on the powerplay), the Steelheads struck again to cut the deficit to 5-3 at 2:20.

The lone final goal would ensure the Greyhounds victory when a Mississauga pass hit into TYE KARTYE and the team’s co-leading scorer would finish off the afternoon with an empty net goal, and a 6-3 Greyhounds victory.

With the win the Hounds improve to 13-15-2-0 while bringing a three-game winning streak back to the Soo.
