Last month the Ontario Hockey League conducted both their Priority Selection and U18 Priority Selection.
Through those two processes, the Soo Greyhounds welcomed eighteen (18) players to the Program.
Since then we started to introduce you to members of this year’s draft class through a ‘Q&A’ feature exclusively here on soogreyhounds.com.
Today we continue that by featuring the Greyhounds 8th Round Selection in the OHL Priority Selection – Stephen Campbell.

What is your main motivation on the ice?
My main motivation comes from myself, my love for hockey, and my constant drive to become the best.
Steve Yzerman has been an idol of mine. He brings a ton of skill to the game and shows tremendous effort.
What do you know about the Soo Greyhounds or the City of Sault Ste Marie?
The Soo is known for having very passionate and dedicated fans which adds to the atmosphere of the arena.
Words of advice for a player aspiring to be drafted/play in the OHL?
Make sure your putting in the extra hours of practice and dedication. Little things like going to bed early and stretching make a big impact on your game and even though they’re small they shouldn’t be neglected.

I’ve been a top athlete all my life and have played many school sports, volley ball and basketball were among my favourites
I enjoy playing the piano, reading comic books, and playing other sports in my spare time.

I would love to hang out with Wayne Gretzky to talk to him about his hockey career and what it was like.
What was the best vacation you ever took and why?
Going it Italy. As a family we drove all over the country visiting Rome, Florence, Venice, and Milan. I’m Italian myself and have always loved the Italian food. The warm weather and spectacular views make it one of my favourite travel spots.
You were stuck on a deserted island, what three (3) things would you bring with you?
I would bring a hockey stick, a puck, and a net.
Over the last 15 months during Covid, what has helped you stay focused. What have you spent most of your time doing?
During Covid I’ve spent loads of time shooting pucks in my basement and working on my skill. As well as it gave me more time to play the piano and read.
