Q&A with Anthony Ciaramitaro

Last month the Ontario Hockey League conducted both their Priority Selection and U18 Priority Selection.
Through those two processes, the Soo Greyhounds welcomed eighteen (18) players to the Program.

Since then we started to introduce you to members of this year’s draft class through a ‘Q&A’ feature exclusively here on

Today we continue that by featuring the Greyhounds 9th Round Selection in the OHL Priority Selection – Anthony Ciaramitaro.

Most memorable moment:
Playing for the East Coast Selects team and winning the World Selects Invitation tournament in Spain.

What do you know about the Soo Greyhounds or the City of Sault Ste Marie?
I know Wayne Gretzky played for this club, and the Greyhounds won the Memorial  Cup back in 1993.  Some things I’ve heard about Sault Ste. Marie is that it is filled with lots of Italian heritage, and they have a steel plant.

Words of advice for a player aspiring to be drafted/play in the OHL?
Keep working, because you never know who’s watching or who can help you get to the OHL.

I have a part time job in construction.

What was the best vacation you ever took and why?
Spain for a hockey tournament. I had multiple friends on the team and we lived together for two weeks, played hockey at day and hung out with them at night.

Over the last 15 months during Covid, what has helped you stay focused.  What have you spent most of your time doing?
Knowing I still had my draft year to look forward to.  I’ve spent most of my time training and doing my best in school over the last year.
