Hounds Jersey Auctions raise over $38K for local charities

Each season, the Soo Greyhounds Hockey Club holds several auctions of special game-worn jerseys to provide financial support for local charitable causes.

Throughout the 2021-22 season, the Greyhounds hosted four separate jersey auctions.
Through the generosity of our fans and supporters, we are extremely pleased to announce that the auctions raised a total of $38,587.35 for local causes!

The Greyhounds kicked off the 2021-22 season with a 50th Anniversary jersey auction in support of the Soup Kitchen Community Centre and St. Vincent Place. This auction raised $9,275 which was split evenly between the two beneficiaries.

The Greyhounds hosted their annual Remembrance Day game in Support of the Royal Canadian Legion Branch 25 and the Algoma Veterans Association. The 50th Anniversary Camo jersey raised a record high $11,073!

The Greyhounds’ annual Hockey Fight Cancer game, presented By Northside Auto Group, saw the Greyhounds go retro in support of the Sault Area Hospital Foundation’s Cancer Care Fund. The throwback jerseys, previously worn from 1998 – 2008, along with sales of Hockey Fights Cancer t-shirts raised $8,742!

Finally, the auction of this seasons Greyhound Warmup Jerseys, presented by Rector Machine Works, raised $9,497.35 from the sale of their ‘blacked out’ 50th Anniversary warmup jerseys.

Thank you to all our fans, near and far, who helped support these great causes by bidding on a jersey!
