About Sault Area Hospital Foundation – Pharmacy IV Room Upgrade
The Sault Area Hospital Foundation fundraises to support local cancer care alongside all areas of care at the Sault Area Hospital. The SAH Pharmacy’s IV Room is an integral part of cancer care as it is where all medications needed across the hospital are prepared, including the preparation of intravenous chemotherapies. Chemotherapies are often very intricate mixtures of essential medications. Some have a short shelf life and many are very toxic. The upgrades to the pharmacy will prioritize patient care while maximizing safety for the staff that prepare these treatments. Support of the upgrades will help ensure that hundreds of local patients continue to get outstanding care as they fight cancer right here in Sault Ste. Marie.
About Elks Oncology Van
The Elks Oncology Van has been serving cancer patients in the Algoma District for 22 years. They provide transportation to and from treatment in Sudbury that is not available locally. Entirely not-for-profit, the van is organized and driven by a group of 10 volunteers. The van transports patients to treatment weekly throughout the year.
