The Soo Greyhounds Hockey Club will celebrate it’s 42nd season in the Ontario Hockey League in 2013/2014.  Hound Power enters this key recruiting season leading into the 2013 OHL Priority Selection with 17 draft choices in the upcoming draft, including multiple picks in rounds six, nine and thirteen.
The team is coming off a season where it brought unmeasurable excitement back to our community.  Following the hiring of Head Coach Sheldon Keefe in early December, the team went 23-12-1-3 over it’s last thirty-nine games climbing back into playoff position with the 6th seed in the Western Conference.

The Hounds are one of twenty member teams in the OHL – a league that operates under the umbrella of the Canadian Hockey League – the #1 supplier of talent to the NHL
The Greyhounds play in the West Division along with the Saginaw Spirit, Sarnia Sting, Plymouth Whalers and Windsor Spitfires.

Since joining the league prior to the 1972-73 season, the Greyhounds have won the OHL Championship on three separate occasions (1985, 1991, 1992) while claiming the Memorial Cup on home ice in 1993.  That appearance at the National Championship marked the team’s third straight trip to the tournament. Three of the top 13 scorers in National Hockey League history developed into professionals as Greyhounds – Wayne Gretzky, Ron Francis, and Paul Coffey.

Over the course of this past season, Hounds Director of Scouting Mike MacFarlane, Director of Player Development Wes Clark, General Manager Kyle Dubas, and the entire Hounds scouting staff have been busy scouting throughout North America in hopes of finding the next great Greyhounds players.
