The Soo Greyhounds Hockey Club is pleased to announce that JACK KOPACKA has committed to the Program.
“We were very pleased to receive word from Jack Kopacka and his family last week that he would be committing to the Soo Greyhounds. Jack is an elite student who has continued rapidly progress as a player through the end of his season with Compuware, our development camp, and the Michigan State Select Festival in early May. The commitment of the Kopacka family is another positive step for our program in the United States as our academic and athletic brand continues to evolve” began Greyhounds’ General Manager Kyle Dubas.
“I am ecstatic about being a part of the Soo Greyhounds organization. It is truly a dream come true. The Greyhounds provide me with the best opportunity to develop into the player I strive to become. I just want to thank the whole Soo Greyhounds organization for everything they have done for me thus far” said Kopacka.
Selected in the 8th Round (157th overall) of the 2014 OHL Priority Selection, Kopacka (left wing) played in 22 games for the Compuware U16 AAA program during the 2013-14 season where he had 7 goals and 17 assists (24 points).
“Compuware was a great place to play. Growing up watching my brother play there, I knew one day I would be in a Compuware jersey as well. The coaching staff was fantastic and I made many life long friends from my time at Compuware. I just want to thank all the coaches and players for all the help and support they gave me” commented Jack.
Most recently, the Lapeer, MI product notched 12 points in 4 games at the MAHA Select 16 Regional Camp in Taylor, Michigan earlier this month.
He was also the 4th selection by the Sioux Falls Stampeders (USHL) in their annual draft before committing to the Hounds.
“Through the spring, Jack has had a great impact every time he has stepped onto the ice and his focus and commitment to his off-ice training and studies bodes very well for him reaching his outstanding potential while a member of our club. We would like to specifically recognize the strong impact of the Compuware Minor Hockey Program and coach Derek Langlois have had on Jack’s development to date. In addition to the excellent work done by United States area scout Bill Warren in identify and recruiting Jack and his family” concluded Dubas.
Jack will be in attendance when the Greyhounds open Training Camp 2014 on Wednesday August 27th. Three days of on-ice action will culminate in the Luke Williams Memorial Red & White game on Friday August 29th at 7:00 pm.
