Greyhounds reduce roster down to twenty-four

The Soo Greyhounds closed out Training Camp 2017 earlier tonight with the team’s Annual Luke Williams Memorial Red & White game.

Following the game, General Manager Kyle Raftis, Head Coach Drew Bannister and their accompanying staff reduced the team’s active roster down to 24 players.

Presently remaining with the club are:

GOALIES (2) – Matthew Villalta, Dougie Newhouse

DEFENCEMAN (8) – Noah Carroll, Jacob LeGuerrier, Conor Timmins, Holden Wale, Anthony DeMeo, Phil Caron, Robert Calisti, Mac Hollowell

FORWARDS (15) – Calvin Martin, Zack Trott, Joe Carroll, Jack Kopacka, Tim Gettinger, Ryan Roth, Hayden Fowler, Boris Katchouk, Brett Jacklin, Keegan Howdeshell, Morgan Frost, Cole MacKay, Hayden Verbeek, Barrett Hayton

Seventeen players were subsequently released from the club, or re-assigned to various programs following the game.  Those players are:
Adriano Mamone, Brayden Crowe, Kobe Seguin, Zach Taylor, Alex Johnston, Noah Boman, Ryan Naumovski, Zach Nazzarett, Theo Todd, Ethan Taylor, Isaiah Payne, Owen Scott, Caleb Wood, Jacob Kelly, Wesley Weir, Mason Dreger, Ryan Brown and Tye Kartye.

The 2017-18 Hounds skate right into action less than 24 hours from now when they kick off their OHL pre-season action tomorrow night, Saturday, September 2nd at Saginaw.

Game time against the Spirit is 7 PM

Those same two teams will conclude this weekend’s home-and-home series on Sunday afternoon, September 3rd with a 4:07 p.m. start at the Essar Centre.
