Bannister hits 100th win milestone

When the final buzzer sounded this past Friday Night (Nov. 24) and the Soo Greyhounds recorded their 19th victory of the season, the game itself marked a milestone moment for Head Coach Drew Bannister.

Amidst his 3rd season behind the Greyhounds bench, the victory over the Kitchener Rangers (8-2) was Bannister’s 100th career regular season victory.

Originally hired on July 10, 2015 – Bannister has guided the Hounds to an overall regular season record of 100 wins, 46 losses, 12 overtime losses and 2 shootout losses through 160 games throughout the 2015/16, 2016/17 and 2017/18 seasons to-date.
That’s good for a .669 winning percentage.

2017/18;  Currently 20-3-2-0, 42 points
Currently 2nd in West Division while having 2nd most points, 2nd most goals for and 2nd least goals against in entire league;  Ranked #3 in the most recent CHL Top 10 rankings

2016/17;  48-16-3-1, 100 points
Finished 1st in West Division;  Only the third time in franchise history the team recorded 100 points in the regular season;  Defeated Flint in five games of Round 1 of OHL Playoffs before falling to Owen Sound in six games of Round 2.

2015/16;  33-27-7-1, 74 points
Finished 3rd in West Division;  Upset 2nd seed Sarnia Sting in 1st Round of OHL Playoffs before falling in five games to Erie in Round 2.

One season ago Drew was named to the OHL’s Third All-Star team as coach while the previous season (2015-16) was one of the OHL Coach of the Year Finalists.

Congratulations Drew on this milestone moment!
